TubeFlash is a collection of original flash fiction stories inspired by the London Underground. TubeFlash is a collection of 91 flash fiction stories by 68 different writers.

Stations across London were paired with vintage and contemporary brooches from my collection. Each story is unique and inspired by either the London Underground Station or the brooch it has been paired with and in some cases both.

The stories are also available as podcasts. In 2017 ‘The Brooch is Back’ exhibition was held at Craft Central as part of Clerkenwell Design Week. There were over 60 original TubeFlash brooches on display. A one-off chance to see the detail in the 1910 Angel’s head representing ‘Angel’, wonder at how a giveaway in Vogue Magazine from the 1930s survived to become ‘Green Park’ and gaze at the sparkle of the crown for ‘Tower Hill’.

Recent Brooch
If there is a magic in story writing, and I am convinced that there is, no one has ever been able to reduce it to a recipe that can be passed from one person to another. The formula seems to lie solely in the aching urge of the writer to convey something he feels important to the reader. If the writer has that urge, he may sometimes but by no means always find the way to do it.
