John was born in Birmingham. He studied film making at the London School of Film Technique. On leaving he turned his hand to writing for the stage and the radio where his work has been produced. He also wrote and published short stories. John taught creative writing at universities, schools, prisons, day centres. He taught a novel and short story course at the City Lit in London and a more general course at CRISIS’s day centre in Spitalfields, London. John died in 2014.
