It is time to celebrate.  This weekend Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are tying the knot so I’m raising a glass to the happy couple.  This is a rather special glass by jewellery designer and silversmith Sue Wainwright.  The main body of this brooch is made of silver with two Swarovski crystals as ice cubes and a red coral cherry on the end of the cocktail stick.

What is so clever about this brooch is the pin.  Susan has used the cocktail stick, which is removal as the pin, how ingenious.

The brooch has a companion piece made by Marion Hayward of FANbags, a silk and silver cocktail bag entitled ‘Ice and a Slice’.  Sue made the silver frame for the bag, it has a lemon slice as the clasp. She also made a mirror with lemon slice handle and a comb with a cocktail olive decoration in silver, each has its own pocket on the outside of the bag.

Marion crafted the elegant back clutch bag with a lining in keeping with the theme, bright frosted cocktail glasses and the final touch to complete the effect is a rock crystal ‘ice cube’ as the tag on the zip on the pocket on the inside.

Sadly I don’t own this bag, I only own the brooch.

Look out for next month’s Brooch of the Month it will be written by my good friend Jacqueline Rehmann author of ‘Classic American Costume Jewelry’, Jacqueline will be talking about one of her favourite designers Ezlac from the USA.
