Jen Campbell, a published poet and short story writer, has set herself a challenge, to write 100 poems to raise money for charity, over one weekend [5th and 6th November]. The money raised will go to research centres looking for cures for degenerative eye conditions. As she completes the poems she will be posting them on her blog. I love this challenge for so many reasons. Jen has used Twitter to involve as many people as possible asking for Tag Words to inspire each poem. As of the moment I post this, Jen has posted poems on ‘Snow’, ‘Museum’ and ‘Pigs’– I have suggested ‘Pumpkins’ ‘Greek Tragedy’ and ‘Renewal’. I can’t write poems for peanuts. As a contributor to the charity I get a postcard sent to me with my very own poem written on it. How cool is that.
If you would like to read her poems and contribute to this worthwhile cause check out her blog http://100poemweekend.blogspot.com/2011/11/1.html and you can follow Jen on twitter @aeroplanegirl. If you are quick you might inspire a poem or two.
